How do you suppress dust on demolition and aggregate recycling sites?

Experience25 October 2026

How do you manage dust during demolition and material recovery?

Construction companies that also handle demolition and the recycling of aggregates face a major operational challenge: containing the dust generated during the work without slowing down activities on site.

Crushing and screening demolition materials produce particles that can disperse into the air while the aggregates are handled, processed and transferred. This is why misting systems are a useful aid for working directly in the operating areas and limiting the spread of dust.

This is the background to our collaboration with a company that had been using one of our Phoenix dust suppression cannons since 2022 to control dust in its operations.

When is a dust suppression cannon no longer enough for the needs of the site?

Over time, changing operational needs led the company to look for a solution with a longer range and, above all, greater autonomy.

On demolition and recycling sites, power and water connections are not always available in the most practical positions. Having a complete system that is easy to move and ready to use simplifies the organisation of the work, especially when operating in different areas.

The customer therefore needed to overcome the limits of the previous configuration by moving to a station able to combine misting, power supply and water reserve in a single solution.

Why choose Hydra 4.0 for dust control?

To meet these needs, we prepared a Hydra 4.0 station, fitted with a diesel generator, built-in tank and radio remote control for remote operation.

The autonomous configuration makes it possible to bring a complete system to site, reducing dependence on external connections. The diesel generator powers the machine, while the built-in water reserve provides the water needed for misting without having to set up a dedicated water connection every time.

The longer range compared with the Phoenix used previously also widens the scope for working in demolition and aggregate processing areas, allowing the position of the cannon to be adapted to the type of work.

The radio remote control completes the set-up, allowing the operator to manage the functions provided without having to work directly on the machine.

How do you integrate the dust suppression system with Industry 4.0?

The station was fitted with the Industry 4.0 kit, which integrates the control and interconnection functions required to access, when all the conditions are met, the tax incentives for investments in technologically advanced capital goods.

For eligible investments, the 2026-2028 hyper-depreciation rules provide for a 180% increase in the tax-relevant cost for the portion of investment up to 2.5 million euros. Access to the benefit depends on meeting the technical, documentary and procedural requirements of the current regulations.

The technological set-up of the machine is therefore an important factor when assessing the investment, to be checked with the professionals handling the application against the actual configuration and the applicable regulatory requirements.

Why are delivery and training part of the supply?

Once the set-up was complete, we delivered Hydra 4.0 directly to the customer’s depot, taking the time needed to present the machine and train the operator in charge.

During this phase we explained the main functions of the station, how to use the radio remote control and the features of the autonomous configuration.

The aim is to enable the company to integrate the new equipment properly into its organisation and make the most of its operating capabilities from the very first jobs.

From the Phoenix in use since 2022 to the new Hydra 4.0, this supply marks the evolution of a collaboration built on the customer’s real needs: more autonomy, greater operating capacity and a technological configuration designed to support demolition and aggregate recycling work.
