Spraying on rotating screen in the compost sector

In a composting plant, targeted atomisation on a rotating screen reduces dust generated during screening, improving air quality, safety and visibility in working environments.

Fixed, automatically activated misting system

This curtain spray system that we installed on a rotary screen for the compost industry has special and very customised features.

During our inspection we found several dust emission problems. During the loading of the feed hopper, the shovel was releasing material, raising a cloud of dust that was dispersing around the site.

Furthermore, once the material was screened and discharged into the bays below, the mechanical shovels, which were in charge of picking up the resulting product, would generate new dust.

That is why we designed a system that acted on both zones independently at the same time.

On the hopper, we have installed a spray line with a presence detector activation system, so that it can only be activated when needed, i.e. when the loader is present.

A second 'L'-shaped spray line was then constructed to cover the area of the heaps produced by the screen, creating a barrier to obstruct the dust caused by the movement of the material by shovels.

Operational and health benefits of spraying on the screen

Water mist treatment offers real advantages:

  • Reduction of fine dustprotecting the health of operators

  • Less odour dispersionespecially in composting processes

  • Greater visibility of the materialimproving efficiency and safety

  • Compliance with environmental standardsmitigating the impact on the surrounding area

An effective and simple system to integrate into the compost sieving cycle.

Targeted spraying on the rotating screen in composting

In the compost sieving process, the moving material generates high amounts of dustwhich can leak into the working environment. The installation of a targeted spraying, positioned above the rotating screenIt creates a fine mist that lowers suspended particles, improving visibility and operating conditions.
