CONRAD C32 breaks down the dust at a demolition site in Villorba

THE ADVANTAGE OF THE ARTICULATED ARM IN DEMOLITION - FORMER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND LIBRARY IN VILLORBA WITH CONRAD C32

The images and video show the highlights of a demolition job carried out in mid-December 2020 by the company De Nardi on commission from the Villorba (TV)* municipality. The demolition and restoration work included the demolition of the former town library building to create a green area and car park.

THE WORK

One of our customers' favourite fittings is definitely the articulated arm, but it is easy to see why!

CONRAD turbines are installed on an articulated arm with hydraulic pistons controlled by both plc and radio control. The mobile three-section boom carries the turbine with its spray jet up to 5.5 metres, thus bringing it very close to the point of origin of the dust.

The work was carried out with the help of a Volvo EC220E excavator equipped with a demolition shear. To abate demolition dust, the company De Nardi, which carried out the work, used a CANNONI CONRAD dust suppression system.

DUST SUPPRESSION SYSTEM CHOSEN

System consisting of C32 cannon with 64 nozzles positioned on 2 heated crowns, plc articulated arm with radio control to remotely manage the movements and performance of the sprayer and 5000 litre tank for a sufficient water supply for the entire working day.

The articulated arm closely follows the operations of the shear cutting and tearing, which allows the dust cloud to be counteracted as soon as it is generated.

The action is precise and punctual because the turbine of the gun, once at altitude, can rotate 340° and perform a tilt from -20° +45°. These operations can be radio-controlled by a site operator or directly by the excavator.

SOME DETAILS

*Details of the intervention: The former library building was built as a parish kindergarten in the late 1950s. In 1979 it was handed over to the municipality, which used it first as a school and later as a library. Since 2018, after the transfer of the library collections and related services to the Barchessa of Villa Giovannina, it has also housed a number of cultural associations in Villiburg, now, in turn, housed in a new location to allow for demolition.

"The building has always been carefully maintained in order to keep it in good condition, but it was now inadequate according to current regulations for construction in seismic zones," explains architect Antonio Pavan. "Hence the project, drawn up by the Public Works Department of the municipality of Villorba, which mainly provides for the demolition of the building and work to restore the natural or semi-natural soil with the Creation of a tree-lined green area and a car park to complement the existing adjacent one, as well as the resurfacing of the fence on the side of the primary school'.

"The project," adds the mayor of Villorba Marco Serena, "envisages a total expenditure of 65,000 euro and is co-financed by 20,000 euro from the Regional Fund for Sustainable Urban Regeneration and Demolition.
